Over Whitacre Churchyard Cross

The Church of St. Leonard sits on a prominence beside the ancient Coventry to Lichfield road, and to the south of the church in the churchyard are the remains of a medieval cross. The socket stone has four carved symbols of the Evangelists, now much weathered. It has been suggested that it served as a font at some time, and it is noticeable that the socket is larger than usual, and circular instead of the usual square shape. See last photo.
