Kenilworth Milepost

This is one of the nationally unique mileposts from the former Stratford on Avon to Long Compton turnpike (1730-1877). It was collected some 25 years ago by Alec Rose from Kenilworth to decorate his garden. We don’t know where he found it, or where it originally stood. His family have very kindly given it to the Milestone Society for restoration and return to the former turnpike (now the A3400). June 2023. It is good to be able to report that this post, donated to us by the Rose family has now returned to a correct site just north of Shipston on Stour, joining its six fellows, restored in 2017.

A long way from home! This post is from the Stratford to Long Compton series and has been given to the Milestone Society for restoration and return to a historically correct site.
